I meant to write this last week but I got all jumbled with the fact that it was bank holiday and I normally post my blog on a Monday, however last Monday I was away at a spa weekend! Which by the way was amazing! Shout out to Carden Park in Cheshire, great night away with some very much needed TLC and cocktails, of course!
Anyway, the subject of this blog is my first market experience. I had planned to do my first one in April but it got cancelled due to "Storm Kathleen" which is amusing because that was my mum's given name (although everyone knew her as Kate) I wasn't ready for the last one as it was at the end of the school holidays, I was stressed and trying to pull everything together in two days! Even though I was gutted it got cancelled in hindsight it wouldn't have been quite the experience my first one was, so I like to think my mum had a hand in that! ;)
I love talking to people (probably too much) so selling at a market was something I was so excited to do. The day went so smoothly, the only thing I found myself getting nervous for was knowing where to go and driving into the middle of the town centre randomly! My son was in the car with me for this part and the excitement on his face was priceless when we dove down the high street he said "I can't believe you are allowed to do this Mum", "Neither can I!" was my reply with an equally big grin.
I was in the perfect spot, next to such a lovely lady who was so warm, friendly and funny. My husband came and helped unpack and moved my car for me leaving Georgie (my youngest) to help me set up. I say help, it was definitely more of a hindrance! She was full of beans and the desire to "help Mummy" so I gave her some made up tasks in hope that she wouldn't demolish everything I was doing (purely from her enthusiasm to help Mummy).
My apprentice for the day turned up, my lovely friend Rachael who has been one of the biggest cheerleaders of Rainbow Bear right from the start. Dressed in our matching Zara pink t-shirts we were raring to go.
If I could describe the day in one word it would be "fun", we met so many lovely people, we chatted to so many people, shared our life stories with a few and made a fair few quid doing it! They say don't they; “Find a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” That's definitely how it felt that day. I have a load of markets booked in and I really can't wait to do my next one! I love my online store it gives me the freedom to work weird and wonderful hours to fit in with my frantic life. However, nothing beats seeing people admire, enquire and buy your stuff, it gave me the ultimate buzz!
Here's to a wonderful sunny week ahead and a little (attempt at) an inspirational wish for the week ahead:
If you have a passion, whatever it may be, go for it and follow that dream.
There may be blood, sweat and tears, plus the highs and lows will be extreme!
But it's all worth it, in time you will start to see it come to fruition,
You will feel so proud and start to grow in ambition.
Take the chance, manifest your vision,
Stay devoted to your goal and you will succeed in your mission.
